The mission of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry is to advocate optimal oral health and general welfare of infants, children, adolescents, and persons with special needs. The Society serves its members and represents the specialty of Pediatric Dentistry in California to achieve excellence in practice, education, and research. University of the Pacific's Announces its 25th Annual Charles A. Sweet, Sr. Memorial Lecture - Dr. Man Wai Ng, chair of the Department of Dentistry at the Children’s Hospital Boston, will present the lecture, "ECC : Disease Management Using a Chronic Care Approach" at the Arthur A. CSPD Members Asked to Complete Survey - The CSPD is engaging in our triennial strategic planning exercise to assist us in choosing future endeavors. The voice of our membership is critical to guiding our efforts; therefore, we are requesting a few minutes of our members' valuable time to complete a brief survey. Find a link to this survey in, the Latest News. Congratulations to CSPD's President - Dr. Lindsey Robinson was nominated to the CDA Executive Committee as the "Secretary Elect." Dr. Robinson joins Dr. Andy Soderstrom as the second pediatric dentists presently in the leadership of the CDA. CSPD Encourages Its Members to Become Actively Involved - If it is "the time" for you, try reviewing CSPD's governance documents - the Administrative Policy and Procedure Manual, the Constitution and Bylaws, and our Strategic Plan - located on the Members Only Page. School Absences for Dental Appointments - California Education Code specifically provides that absences for dental care shall be excused. CSPD and CDA have created a joint statement to address concerns of parents and/or school administrations regarding these professional visits. CSPD has developed a template for a School Attendance Release Form which may be downloaded and customized by members for individual office printing and distribution (This is a MS Word doc file). Dental Assisting Structure and Educational Requirements - With the passage of AB 2637 in 2008, beginning January 1, 2010, dental assisting scope of practice, and educational and licensing requirements, will change.
