Foundation President’s Message

BY Steve Gross, CDT, Foundation President

We are rapidly entering a new era in which our economy, our institutions, and our societal structures –indeed, the very bedrock of our lives – are shifting at an accelerating pace. This new era promises to change learning dramatically; affecting the ways education engages learners and the reasons individuals pursue learning in the first place.

Over the next decade, our lives will become so inextricably linked with our digital companions that we expect to find ourselves living as partners in code. These changes will open a wide set of possibilities that we all can help shape.

As we explore the future of learning, we invite you to unleash your imagination, consider new possibilities for learning, and explore how we might create a better future for all learners.

Learning is a lifelong experience that is controlled by the environment we create. The Foundation addresses these changes. As we morph into this new era – keep in mind the one to one relationships that will not change: student – teacher, doctor – patient, mentor – mentee, and doctor - doctor. This is why your support is so critical.

The Foundation recognizes these new economic shortfalls and through your generous donations addresses and provides additional training, research and leadership for all lifelong learners, including you, the CSPD membership – helping us all to become the best we can be, leading to superior treatment of infants, children and young adults.

YOU SUPPORT:

  1. Enhanced faculty at the pediatric dentistry programs in California.
  2. Two Brandli Interns per year which nurture our future leadership.
  3. Lunch and Learns - at all the programs in California.
  4. Double Black Diamond Sponsorship at the annual CSPD meeting offering new and cutting edge programs and presentations which effect the entire pediatric dental profession.
  5. Additional funding for residents to attend the annual meeting.
  6. Research Grants throughout all the programs in California.
  7. Three Graduate Student Legislative Advocacy Interns, learning how to advocate for pediatric dentistry in California and Washington, DC.

2016-2017 Giving Campaign
The 2016-2017 giving campaign is well under way and at the same pace as last year.  Even though your Foundation has made tremendous strides in addressing the crisis in pediatric dental education and has funded over $1,600,000 towards its mission, without your continued support we cannot sustain our commitment to continue to address these issues.

Upon review this of years list of donors, I was quite surprised to discover that so many of the CSPD’s 900 members haven’t stepped up to support the Foundation. It is my opinion we can do better!!!

Therefore, I would like to encourage you to place the CSPD Foundation’s 16th Annual Giving Campaign at the very top of the list of professional organizations vying for your support. This is especially true for those of you who are relatively new to the profession.

You can give at any level – in honor of - in memory of – you can arrange for a $5.00 dollar gift a month program – any gift is welcome and you will be recognized for your contribution.

Please see gift opportunities page and visit www.cspd.org/foundation.

In the end it all benefits the children, and isn’t that what it’s all about?

As always I welcome your comments and suggestions. (steveg@smlglobal.com)
Respectfully,

Steve Gross, CSPDF President
