Regenerative Endodontics

Overview
Dr. Mahmoud Torabinejad a professor of Endodontics at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and developer of MTA, will present a program on regenerative endodontics where he will discuss the pros and cons of pulp regeneration and the alternative treatments for teeth with pulp necrosis and open apexes. There is a growing body of evidence to suggesting that revascularization of the pulp space, along with continued growth of the root, may in fact be possible after pulpal necrosis and apical pathosis in teeth with immature apices. In this lecture the presenter will discuss the pros and cons of pulp regeneration and the alternative treatments for teeth with pulp necrosis and open apexes. This session runs from 8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and offers two and half (2.5) CEUs.

Speaker Biography
Dr. Torabinejad is a professor of endodontics and director of the advanced specialty education program in endodontics at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. He practices two half-days, has made over 200 national and international presentations in more than 40 countries. He has authored four textbooks and more than 300 publications.  A recent review reported that Professor Torabinejad is the #1 author of citation classics in the field of endodontics. He is the top-cited author in endodontic journals with authorship in 16 articles of the top 100 list. A search on Scopus (www.Scopus.com; 16 July 2013) revealed that his body of research has generated >7,250 lifetime citations. He received the AAE Ralph F. Sommer Award 1986, the AAE Louis I. Grossman Award 1993, and he received the Philanthropist Award from the AAE Foundation 1997. He was the recipient of the Loma Linda University Centennial Van Guard Award for Healing 2006. Dr. Torabinejad received the Distinguished Research Award from the dental school 2008. In recognition of his significant pioneering contributions to health sciences, he received the Loma Linda University distinguished investigator award in 2013. He is a past president of the California Association of endodontics and past president of the American Association of Endodontists and its Foundation.

Pediatric Dentists Business Form

Overview
Bob Phillips, CPA and principal at Phillips Accountancy Corporation which currently represents about 450 dentists throughout California, will be facilitating a business forum on issues impacting pediatric dentists in both their professional practice and personal lives. Phillips has been working with dentists since 1987 and is a Certified Public Accountant who also holds the designation of Personal Financial Specialist. This session runs from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and offers two (2) CEUs.

Speaker Biography
Bob Phillips, Phillips Accountancy Corporation currently represents about 450 dentists throughout California. The firm's principal, Robert P. (Bob) Phillips has been working with dentists since 1987. Bob is a Certified Public Accountant who holds the specialty designation of Personal Finance Specialist, held by only about 1% of CPAs nationally. In addition, Bob is a Certified Financial Planner. 


Objectives

After completion of the Business Form Session attendees will be able to understand:

  • practice financial statements
  • ideal practice overhead percentages
  • reducing the potential for fraud in your practice
  • tax treatment of associates: employee vs. independent contractor
  • tax planning strategies
  • discussion of issues affecting buyers and sellers of pediatric dental practices

There will be a continental breakfast available at the beginning of the course and an assortment of food during the session break.
