New Residents at UCLA

MATTHEW DAVIS, D.D.S.
Dr. Matthew Davis was raised in Encinitas, California. From 1996 to 2000 he attended UCLA and was a member of the men’s volleyball team, winning two national championships. He received his B.A. in Environmental Studies from UCLA in 2000. After graduating he worked part time in his father’s pediatric dental practice and spent a few months traveling before starting dental school. In 2005 he received his D.D.S degree from the University of the Pacific. Upon completion of his training in Pediatric Dentistry in 2007, he plans on remaining in southern California to practice.
DINO DEL FIERRO, D.D.S.
Dr. Dino Del Fierro was born in Rota, Spain and raised in San Diego, California. He graduated from the University of California San Diego with a degree in Economics and worked for several years in the field of Database Marketing and Decision Support Systems. Dr. Del Fierro returned to school and obtained his D.D.S. degree in 2004 from UCLA. After graduation, he completed a General Practice Residency at the Veterans Affairs in Sepulveda, California. Upon completion of his training in Pediatric Dentistry in 2007, Dr. Del Fierro’s plans include private practice, community outreach and teaching.
SARA GHAEMMAGHAMI, D.D.S.
Dr. Sara Ghaemmaghami was born in Iran and moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin when she was in high school. She received a B.S. in Biology from the University of California San Diego in 1984 and graduated from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 1988. She has been in private practice specifically treating children. Upon her completion of the Pediatric Dentistry residency program at UCLA in 2007, she plans to practice and teach.
GIANCARLO LAURIENTE, D.D.S.
Giancarlo was born in Los Angeles and raised in Pismo Beach, California. He attended the University of California at Davis where he completed a B.S. in Genetics. Following graduation, he moved to Lake Tahoe where he lived for a year, and was employed as an assistant coach for a children’s ski racing program at Squaw Valley, a resort on Tahoe’s north shore. Giancarlo attended the UCLA School of Dentistry and graduated in 2005. He is excited to engage in more research and community service at UCLA during the next couple years. His hobbies include skiing, backpacking, surfing and many types of music. He plans after completing the Post Doctoral Program in Pediatric Dentistry in 2007 are currently undecided.
TODD PACOFSKY, D.M.D.
Dr. Todd Pacofsky was born in Albuquerque, NM and raised in Visalia, CA. He graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Art Studio and Biology. After earning his D.M.D. from Tufts University, he spent three years as a commissioned officer in the US Navy Dental Corps including a one year AEGD residency. After the Navy, Todd spent three years working as an associate in two private offices and a non profit clinic for children on California’s central coast when it dawned on him that working with children was more enjoyable and rewarding than anything he had done in dentistry up to this point. He is looking forward to his two year pediatric dentistry residency that he will complete in 2007.
IRMA PÉREZ-MARTINEZ, D.M.D.
Dr. Irma Pérez-Martínez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and raised in Caguas, P.R. She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, Cayey Campus with a B.S. in General Sciences in 2001 and continued studies at the University of Puerto Rico, School of Dentistry, where she received D.M.D. degree in 2005. The last two years she worked as a research assistant in the Center for Craniofacial Disorders, San Juan, P.R. She will complete the combined residency program in Pediatric Dentistry/Orthodontics in 2009.
