The California Society of Pediatric Dentistry is an organization that serves its membership and the public by advocating optimal oral health of infants, children and adolescents.

Job Opening Title: Executive Director (ED) of California Society of Pediatric Dentistry (“CSPD”)

Overall Vision: The ED is the representative of the Society to the public and other professional organizations as well as the liaison between its Board of Directors and the Association Management Company [AMC].  CSPD relies on the ED to look after the best interests of the Society and to be a guiding and mentoring presence for the board. The ED loves working with people, is organized and has great attention to detail. A sense of humor is always appreciated.

Reports to: CSPD Board of Directors. The ED is directly responsible to and supervised by the President.  

Hours and Compensation: 20-40 hours per week. It is understood that the first year may require more time than subsequent years. The Executive Director Position is a contracted paid position that is renewable on a yearly basis.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
The ED shall:

  • Be responsible for the coordination and supervision of the AMC of the Society in its day-to-day operations
  • Work with the treasurer in maintaining and reporting all financial activities of the Society
  • Be a custodian of all Society print and electronic records - both current and archived
  • Consult with the President, other Officers and Board as appropriate and sit on various committees
  • Travel for and attend multiple dental meetings as the representative of CSPD
  • Attend all CSPD Board meetings, Annual Scientific Sessions and Business meetings

Administrative Duties Summary
The ED shall:

  • Maintain a master calendar for CSPD
  • Maintain databases and communicate effectively with Board and its officers
  • Communicate effectively with membership as directed by the Board
  • Oversee print publications
  • Prepare board meeting packets
  • Respond to deadlines, be comfortable digitally with email and other administrative software
  • Go above and beyond what is necessary to do an excellent job to keep CSPD in order
