This caries risk assessment is important. A friend sent me this question: Is it unprofessional conduct to NOT do a caries assessment and assign a caries risk category on each child? According to the CA Dental Board it is. I've looked at a few Causes for Discipline from the Board. In each of them the "First Cause for Discipline for Unprofessional Conduct was failing to complete a caries risk assessment and failing to assign a caries risk category to aid in making clinical decisions. This conduct constitutes negligence."
