About the Warren Brandli Internship (WBI) Program

CSPD is accepting applications for the Warren Brandli Leadership Intern program for 2019-2020. This wonderful opportunity for leadership development is a program specifically designed for current pediatric dental residents or colleagues in California who are in their first 5 year period after completing their postgraduate training. The objective of the program is to introduce the selected intern to the inner workings of CSPD, including the art of organizational governance and the importance of child advocacy. This will help set the stage for providing young hopeful leaders the knowledge and confidence necessary to further become involved with CSPD, AAPD, CDA and other dental and related organizations. The internship serves as the true breeding ground for our future leaders in pediatric dentistry.

Participation within the program will require the intern to attend and participate in all CSPD and CSPD Foundation board of director meetings for the organizational year. The CSPD supports the participant's travel and lodging expenses. The intern will be assigned a leadership mentor who will guide him or her throughout the year.

The Leadership Development Committee thanks you for your interest and your dedication to the mission and goals of CSPD.

Current WBI

Dr. Jenny Garcia
Jenny was born and raised in the city of Angels and is a Los Angeles native. She earned her Bachelors in Biology from UC Santa Cruz, and then went further up north to UCSF School of Dentistry where she received her dental degree. Dr. Garcia is interested in community dentistry. After graduation from the Advanced Pediatric Dentistry Program at USC, she plans to practice in Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Remya Niranjan
Remya was born and raised in India. She completed her Bachelors in Dental Surgery in 2004 from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Mysore , India. After graduating from her BDS , she worked in various dental offices and also was an instructor in Sri Balaji Dental College Chennai, India. She immigrated to the U.S in 2005 and focused on gaining entry into the International Dentist Program in UCSF. Apart from assisting dentists , she spent the next 3 years in participating in various voluntary initiatives to educate school children about the importance of dental hygiene. Remya entered the International Dentist Program at UCSF in the fall of 2009 and graduated in the summer of 2011. Upon graduation , she worked in the central valley of California in various federally qualified dental clinics. She was the driving force behind the new dental wing in Livingston Community Health in Hilmar, CA. During the course of her work there, she found her calling in treating pediatric patients in the under served communities. Her decision to pursue a specialization in pediatric dentistry was born out of the various interactions with her patients in these communities . Remya’s goal is to return to work with the under served communities which she finds very fulfilling. She also wants to be a part of the teaching community and sees that in her long-term plans.
Remya has been a Bay Area resident throughout her life in the U.S. She is very grateful to be able to continue her long lasting relationship with UCSF . She loves the vibe of San Francisco particularly the gentle ambience of the Outer Sunset area. You can find her taking long walks or bike rides near Ocean Beach with her children over the weekends while watching breaching whales. She also loves traveling and cooking for special occasions.
